Managing Director

Eamonn Fitzpatrick is one of Australia’s leading public affairs professionals and has advised some of the world’s biggest brands including Uber, Google and UNICEF and top ASX companies on effectively engaging governments, stakeholders and the media.

Born in Hong Kong, Eamonn began his career as a newspaper journalist on the South China Morning Post before joining the Sydney Morning Herald in the early 90s. He left journalism to become a political advisor and was senior press secretary to two Australian Prime Ministers, Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd, and ran government communications for Premiers in NSW and Qld. He also held key roles in many federal and state election campaigns over two decades.

In May 2022, Eamonn established Fitzpatrick & Co Advisory to advise corporate clients on effectively engaging governments in Australia and the region as well as advise ASEAN economies on how to position globally as competitive investment destinations. He serves on the committee of the Australian Indonesia Business Council (NSW) and continues to be a delegate to some of the world’s biggest business and investment forums including APEC, B20 and the Asian Financial Forum.

Eamonn remains deeply committed to the not-for-profit sector. He previously ran global communications for the Fred Hollows Foundation, was on the board of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and is on the board of the Social Policy Group, a national leader in program design for migration and settlement and women. He is currently a pro bono advisor to UNICEF.

BRUCE Hawker

Special Counsel

Bruce Hawker is one of Australia’s pre-eminent political and communications figures.

He has an unparalleled reputation as a campaign professional forged over 40 years working at the highest levels of government and corporate Australia. And he has played a central role in more than 40 major election campaigns in Australia and overseas.

Bruce served for nine years as Chief of Staff to former NSW Premier Bob Carr (1988 to 1997) and Senior Political Adviser to PM Kevin Rudd in 2013.

He negotiated the agreement with key independents to support the Gillard Labor Government following the 2010 hung election.

Bruce has also been twice named in the Sydney Morning Herald’s list of 100 most influential Australians.

Bruce and Eamonn have worked together for decades, as Bruce previously founded political campaigning and government affairs firm, Hawker Britton (1997 to 2010).

Bruce now continues to provide businesses with his unique insights working with Fitzpatrick & Co Advisory.

Josh Wright

State Director

Josh Wright brings 20 years of public service experience to Fitzpatrick & Co Advisory, having held influential roles across State, Territory, and Commonwealth levels. His career includes serving as Senior Policy Advisor and Director of Policy for multiple ministers, where he helped shape critical policies that are now being implemented across NSW.

Josh’s deep understanding of policy development, coupled with his insider knowledge of the political and executive processes, equips clients with the ability to navigate complex government landscapes. His recent experience and extensive networks ensure that clients benefit from his strategic foresight and ability to drive meaningful outcomes.

With a focus on helping clients achieve their policy objectives, Josh provides expert guidance on engaging with government and navigating the intricacies of political decision-making.

George Iwan Marantika

Indonesia Partner

George Iwan Marantika is one of Indonesia’s leading international business advisors and is a key figure behind the nation’s global trade ties in an official capacity with KADIN as head of their bilateral ties with major trading nations.

An immediate past president of the Indonesia Australia Business Council, he is also Honorary Consul to Hungary and previously consulted to the World Bank.

A native of Yogyakarta, George has an extensive background in Indonesia’s burgeoning tertiary education and research sector, formerly as the President of a leading private university and now as a board member at several institutions. He is Vice Chairman Global Engagement Association Private Universities and Higher Education Institutions (APTISI), and Board Member of various digital knowledge economy company startups based in Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, and Sweden.

His expertise and network spans business, government and the military in Indonesia, helping our clients navigate Indonesia’s complex commercial landscape.

He is the founder of the General Soedirman Foundation in honour of the founding commander of Indonesia’s armed forces who continues to be revered by many, including President Prabowo.

George remains a trusted adviser to many of Indonesia’s business elite, including those who have key roles in the new Indonesian Government.

JJ CHEN

Associate

With nearly two decades managing businesses and teams in Australia and China, JJ Chen offers clients unique insights and an in-depth understanding of the opportunities for growth across Asia and the Indo-Pacific economy.

Commencing her career in Canberra as a public sector graduate at Airservices Australia, JJ was part of the team awarded the Chairman’s Award for Professional Excellence. While in Beijing she held numerous roles including acting as General Manager for AustCham Beijing and was involved with rebranding the prestigious Westpac Australia-China Business Awards in 2013. She also invested in rapid scale start up, 123 Childcare, and furthered its expansion across China.

JJ has undergraduate degrees in Science and Asian Studies and holds a Masters of Strategic Affairs from the Australian National University (ANU). She plays an active role in the ANU alumni community, cultivating networks across Beijing, Canberra and Sydney and is part of the ANU Chapter for the Golden Key International Society.

Karl Stewart

Senior Consultant

Karl Stewart brings together experience from the political, public and private sectors with a deep understanding of using data to persuade and drive decisions. His blend of political insights, corporate knowledge and technical skills uniquely positions him to assist clients as they interact with governments.

He has played a key role in multiple election campaigns and has consulted on post-election reviews and electoral boundary redistributions. His analytical skills have made him a valuable resource for campaign teams seeking to understand electoral trends and voter behaviours.

In the private sector, Karl has worked with a diverse range of companies, industry representatives, and non-profit organisations, helping them assess their climate and sustainability risks. His ability to turn complex data into actionable insights has earned him a reputation for delivering solutions that are both effective and efficient.

Karl holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and Applied Finance and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence. His combination of technical expertise and practical experience positions him as a key asset to Fitzpatrick & Co Advisory, where he continues to deliver data-driven advice that supports strategic decision-making.

Tyne Jones

Intern

Tyne Jones has joined Fitzpatrick & Co Advisory as an intern assisting the team with research, administration and content creation.

He studies International Relations and Political Science at the Australian National University and is passionate about productive government-NFP relationships, as well as Australia’s evolving role in the Indo-Pacific. In 2024, he pursued studies in law and international security at Macquarie University, where he was recognised as the highest achiever in a unit of study.

Tyne is a member of the Ku-ring-gai Council Youth Advisory Committee, providing insight on council policies, plans, and services. He was previously a Disability Support Worker and held the position of Head of Operations in a squadron of the Australian Air Force Cadets, where he earned a competitive scholarship to undertake glider pilot training.
